Episode Two: What Do I Have to Watch?

Last week, our blog Why You Should be Watching Video covered the topic of video advertising or “video targeting”.  This week we would like to follow in the footsteps of the great George Lucas and present you with the prequel “What Do I Have to Watch?”
After engaging in our previous blog episode you might have said to yourself, “I don’t have any commercials and video is complicated and expensive to create, so this message doesn’t apply to me.” Well, if this really was a prequel and we were traveling back in time, that might be true but today there are many alternatives to expensive, professionally produced video.
You can, of course, capture quality digital video footage with the smart phone or tablet you are carrying right now but there are also some fun and free tools out there on the internet that will allow you to put together engaging video content without the use of a video camera. We used powtoons.com to create the sample video below and it took as little as a couple hours.

Video advertising isn’t the only reason it might be high time to put together some video clips about your business. According to Wirebuzz.com“Video is the trump card in the hand of the search engine optimizer. Search engines are looking for signs that your content is engaging to determine if it is worth a high ranking and nothing boosts engagement like video.”
PowToon’s introductory video states that it takes as many as 1.8 million words to achieve the same results as one minute of video. So taking some time to build a few quick and informative clips about your products and services could be a great way to increase traffic to your website. Additionally, visitors who view product videos are 85% more likely to buy than visitors who do not (Source: Internet Retailer).
And if you still need an additional reason to start building that video library, think how much your customers, stock holders, students, and everyone else sitting through your presentations will thank you for replacing all those PowerPoint files you are currently using with fun and engaging video.
