Getting Into the Spirit of Things

With the approaching Holiday just a few days away we would like to begin by wishing all of our customers a Happy Halloween.
Incorporating a little Holiday spirit into your business atmosphere is a fantastic way to enhance customer experience and I am not just talking about the big four: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Halloween, and what is referred to in the retail industry as the “Winter Holidays” (Christmas, Kwanza, and Hanukah).
If you are looking for some creative ways to improve business it may be as simple as looking at the calendar for a list of holidays and incorporating them into your marketing plan. A mariachi band on Cinco de Mayo or free potted cacti on Adopt a Succulent day can create an atmosphere of fun that gets people talking.
In this age of social media, getting people talking is easy but getting people to share positive experiences continues to be a challenge. According to a survey by American Express, Americans tell an average of 9 people when they have a good experience but will share a bad experience with twice as many people.

Holidays are meant to conjure up festiveness and joy. Conjure some joy within your own establishment and you could be caroling all the way to the bank. The same AMEX survey found that 3 out of 5 Americans are willing to give a new company a shot if it means a more positive customer experience.
Incorporating decorations or silly accessories will get customers attention, get conversations started and will also help the members of your staff who may find it hard to take that initial step towards engaging the customer. Think your business is too serious to participate in such silliness? Well laughter, especially when directed at ourselves, is not only good for your health, but helps build stronger and longer lasting relationships and it just so happens that building relationships is the key to building business as well.
This message isn’t just intended for those businesses with a retail component. Incorporating a festive spirit into your company brand can be accomplished in any number of ways. Google has been incorporating fun into their branding for years. The “Google doodle” began in 1998 as a way to share with people that the founders were “out of office” at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada and morphed into a way for the company to “celebrate notable events!”
